Esporte Clube Bahia may return to the pitch earlier than expected after the national calendar pause for the World Cup. The Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) is working with a window of dates for the postponed match against Chapecoense, which is scheduled for the 4th round of the Brazilian Championship. According to information obtained by the A TARDE portal, the entity has defined the period between July 16 and 18 as the date-set for the match. However, the game has not been officially confirmed. The CBF's intention is to use this window to catch up on the competition schedule. If the proposal is maintained, Bahia will return to action before the expected date. Until then, the commitment that would mark the Tricolor's return after the pause would be the match against Atlético-MG, scheduled for July 22, in the 19th round of the Serie A. Behind the scenes, the entity has already communicated the idea to the two clubs. However, the possibility faces resistance from Chapecoense. In contact with the A TARDE portal, a source linked to the Catarinense club revealed that the period suggested by the CBF was presented to the board, but it is not considered the most suitable for the team's preparation. The justification presented by Chape is related to the season's calendar. Unlike Serie A clubs, which started the recess immediately after the national competition pause, the Catarinense team remained active for a longer period due to the Copa Sul-Sudeste dispute and only entered recess eight days later, on Monday 8. Internally, the understanding is that the Brazilian football entity needs to take this scenario into account. The club's evaluation is that two weeks of preparation would be insufficient for a high-level competitive match. The match between Bahia and Chapecoense was originally scheduled for February 25. However, the game was postponed due to a conflict between the CBF and Conmebol calendars, caused by the Esquadrão's participation in the second phase of the Copa Libertadores da América.
